Summer is heating up, and one of the best outdoor activities in Orlando is cooling down at one of the many water parks in the area! There’s always a water park nearby, no matter where you are in the Orlando area.
Island H2O Live is Orlando’s newest water park that is all about cutting-edge technology to maximize your fun—while Volcano Bay takes you back to the tropics with thrills and chills.
The giant volcano along I-4 has become an instant addition to the central Florida skyline. So head on over to Aquatica to check out the park with the most waterslides in Orlando, or spend the day at the all-inclusive Discovery Cove surrounded by a tropical oasis and swim with dolphins.
Considered the spine of Orlando’s trail network, the Orlando Urban Trail runs from Lake Highland to Mead Gardens in Winter Park and is about a 3-mile ride. Passing by various restaurants, bars, and gardens downtown, it’s a great trail to hop on and hop off at your leisure.
You’ll also pass by six lakes, two bridges, the Orlando Cultural Park, and the Gaston Edwards Trail. So what are you waiting for? Grab your bike, your rollerblades, or your sneakers and hit the trail!
Although it’s connected to a natural spring and you can kayak there, we thought Kelly Park in Apopka deserved its own spot on the list because there is just so much to do! With swimming and tubing now open, you can spend a nice Orlando day outside floating down the river and cooling off in the 72-degree water.
Be sure to get there early so you can secure your spot! You can bring your own tube or rent from outside vendors. Kayaking renting is available, along with campsite reservations for overnight stays.
Few things have become staples of central Florida quite like Gatorland. Considered the gator capital of the world since 1949, Gatorland provides affordable family fun where you can see thousands of alligators, crocodiles, birds, and more. They also have rotating alligator exhibits, a petting zoo, and an observation tower, so you never know what you’re going to see at Gatorland!
Gatorland is the perfect place for outdoor fun in Orlando, and if you’re brave enough, you can even try the Screamin’ Gator zipline, where you’ll fly over Nile crocodiles and the alligator marsh!
Do you have what it takes to take on the Orlando Tree Trek Adventure Park? Strap on your harness and head to trees, ’cause this course is not for the faint of heart. You’ll be climbing high up through 97 aerial challenges and flying through 2 giant zip lines!
Some of the obstacles include Tarzan ropes, 50 ft ladders, wobbly suspended bridges, swinging logs, hanging skateboards, and of course, zip lines. Reservations are strongly required, and it’s a great team-building activity to do with a group. Be sure to check out their website for specials and group deals.
If the rev of an engine is your favorite sound, be sure to check out Revolution Off Road. Located in Clermont, this is a one-of-a-kind experience that allows you to ride on ATVs and jeeps, along with offering fishing and archery classes. It’s hands down one of the top outdoor activities in Orlando.
Hop on one of their ATVs and travel through their winding courses of dirt and mud on over 200 acres of land. Learn how to operate off-road vehicles in a safe and fun experience while still 4-wheeling it through the muddy terrain. Then, clean yourself off and learn how to skeet shoot, target archery, archery tag, or bass fishing on the property afterward.
In Sanford, Hidden Palms Ranch offers private horseback trail tours through the beautiful Lake Jesup Conservation Area. Enjoy a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of Orlando and take in the beautiful old Florida trails lined with live oak trees and Spanish moss.
If you have a little one who is not quite ready for a trail ride, they do offer a horse experience where you can meet, pet, and ride a horse in a less intimidating manner. Hidden Palms Ranch is the perfect outdoor escape.
Is this Napa Valley? Nope, just Lakeridge Winery and Vineyards, Florida’s largest winery. Located in Clermont, you can sample homemade Florida wine, take a behind-the-scenes tour, as well as stroll through their vineyards for the perfect Instagram picture!
The wine tour and sampling are free, but you’ll probably want to stick around and buy a glass a few bottles to take home. In addition, they are always having weekend events, live music, and vendor pop-ups, so make sure to keep in touch with their website and social media!
