And don’t even think about walking back when you’re done floating because Lions Club provides shuttles that will take you back to the start of the float! So hop in the river and enjoy!

Nothing is better than a good meal after a long river day. Ivar’s River Pub is a local favorite serving up some of San Marcos best food in town. Whether you want to grab a drink with a friend on the patio and enjoy the view of the river or sit inside and watch a game, Ivar’s River Pub has what you need. This San Marcos staple is something that the whole family will enjoy. And on your way out, don’t forget to feed the ducks on the patio downstairs!

Blind Salamander Cantina is the newest edition of the San Marcos downtown sqaure. The instagrammable cantina offers many varieties of margaritas that will satisfy your tastebuds. They also serve up some great tacos & have complimentary chips and salsa all day that you can enjoy on their rooftop patio that overlooks San Marcos! Along with great margs & even better tacos, they have everyday happy hour from 11am-7pm that will make your San Marcos weekend getaway so much better!

Wonder World Cave and Adventure Park is a one stop shop of fun for the entire family! Explore the earthqauke cave and all the wonders that live inside it. The park also offers a number of activities including train rides, anti-gravity house, observation room and even an arcade. My personal favorite is the cave tour because there is a lot of cool history and facts you learn along with seeing the beautiful cave! There is no question that this adventure park has something the whole family will enjoy!

5. San Marcos Premium Outlets

Who doesn’t need a little retail therapy during a weekend getaway? I sure do! The San Marcos Premium Outlets offers the best brands and the most affordable prices you can find. Stop by some of my personal favorite stores like Lululemon, Nike, and Abercrombie to snag some great deals. You can spend the whole day shopping or just make a quick stop and grab a few things. Happy shopping!

6. Paddle SMTX

Paddle SMTX is my favorite activity by far in this guide to a weekend getaway in San Marcos. They are a kayak and paddle board company that does nighttime glow tours. This unique experience is perfect for a date night, birthday, or just to go with a group of friends. I personally really enjoy watching the stars while kayaking down the river. You can also see whats under you too because the kayaks glow! Overall, this is an experience you won’t want to miss!
