East Austin is one of the fastest-growing areas in the city, and the restaurant scene is no exception. You can find almost every type of cuisine that exists all on the east side.

With so many to choose from it can quickly become overwhelming to narrow it down to just one. We have created a guide to the very best east Austin restaurants to help make choosing a little easier for you!

One of our favorite restaurants in east Austin, Licha’s Cantina prides itself on serving soul food of Mexico City. Start with one (if you can pick) of their many chips and dips before some of the best tacos and entrees. The happy hour list is long and their drink list is even longer. We recommend trying the spicy margarita!

Drop Kick Cocktail Bar and Kitchen is a blend of cultures and flavors for an all-around incredible experience. With some inspiration from homestyle cooking, enjoy familiar meals with exciting twists, from snacks to bites big and small. They serve intricate cocktails, draft beers, and lots of wine!

They stay open into the early hours of the morning on weekends where the restaurant transforms into a bar while still serving thee same menu!

Rosewood Gulf Coast Chop House is known for its southern cuisine. With lots of fresh fish to choose from and craft cocktails to go with, you’re sure to have a splendid evening here! 

Enjoy their large outdoor seating area paired with a delicious cocktail!

This East Austin restaurant is a taco lover’s dream. Reunión 19 puts a west coast style twist on their delicious tacos keeping guests coming back time after time.  

With meat and vegan options, there is truly something for everyone!

Sour Duck Market has their smoker as a centerpiece and creates a space of enchanting hospitality. Their happy hour is twenty percent off of the whole menu- yes, the whole menu! From breakfast tacos to burgers, to farm salads, they have it all!

Dai Due Butcher Shop and Supper Club uses fresh, regional food, supporting local and serving seasonal. Their outdoor patio is spacious and lusciously green making it the perfect spot for Austin’s beautiful weather!

Suerte makes an excellent brunch and will even surprise with a pastry assortment. Their brunch cocktails are not to be beaten and their general drink list is off the charts. And don’t forget about their mouth-watering tacos!

Cenote brings coffee, food, beer, and wine all to one table. Their produce comes from local Texas farms and the restaurant is housed in a historic treasure from 1887! The owners lived in East Ceaser Chavez and made their dream come true to start their business right in the neighborhood.

Old Thousand is a neighborhood Chinese restaurant that takes a modern spin on American-Chinese food.  Their space is beautifully decorated with a visible kitchen for an exciting dining experience. Their noodle and rice bowls are not to be ignored and they also have brunch all day on Sundays!

Modeled after their family ranch in Texas, Contigo is a place that feels like your weekend vacation. Sit outside and have a drink, the options are plentiful. Enjoy food that is locally and specifically sourced. Everything on the menu is different than the one you read before, from gnocchi to fried catfish, to burgers and Philly cheesesteaks!

Eden East’s farm to table experience is fresh and seasonal. Their family farm is 5 acres and is home to all of their seasonal produce and herbs. Dinner options may look a little different than you’re used to when the menu starts with organic rabbit and quail legs, but shrimp and gnocchi make an appearance as well!

Oseyo serves modern Korean-American food with a rustic feel and outdoor garden patio. Their dumplings are house-made and the Chef’s Specials include traditional favorites with seasonal emphasis. Don’t forget about saki, beer, wine, and cocktails to go with your dinner!

Salty Sow is an American gastropub popular for its pork dishes, wine, and beer! Their cocktail menu is extensive and happy hour is every day of the week. This modern farmhouse fare is locally sourced and mindfully made!
