Calling all sushi fanatics: we hope you’re hungry! Grab those chopsticks and order a side of spicy mayo because our team has curated the ultimate guide to Sushi Spots in Philly. Whether you’re placing an order for delivery, takeout, or if you prefer dining in, Philly is home to some of the tastiest Japanese food. Your tastebuds will thank us.
Kicking off our top sushi in Philadelphia list is newbie Fat Tuna. Opened in 2019 right off Saint Joseph’s University’s campus, Fat Tuna quickly became a favorite for students and locals. Don’t let the small storefront fool you, there is plenty of seating inside among a fun and bright atmosphere. Fat Tuna also has a pretty lengthy and impressive menu. We recommend splurging and adding on a few appetizers to your next order. We especially love the fried calamari and cheese wontons. Definitely worth cheating on your diet for.
If you’re looking for a new sushi take out and delivery go-to, Hayashi Sushi is your guy. We’ve ordered plenty of their signature rolls and we are here to report: They. Do. Not. Miss. Everything from their Sweetheart Roll to their aptly named Spice Girl Roll is always fresh and delicious. Their menu also has plenty of options if you aren’t feeling sushi and looking for more of an Asian fusion dish. Their Chicken Teriyaki Benton Lunch Special is absolutely delicious. This special comes with rice, choice of Miso Soup or a salad, and your choice of Salmon, California, or veggie roll.
Oh yeah, you read that right. Karaoke and sushi? Two peas in an edamame pod. Fuji Mountain is a bi-level Japanese restaurant with beautiful wood-paneled booths, a full bar, and karaoke rooms. Not only is the food AMAZING, but their private party rooms are a must for your next girls night. Come prepared to sing your heart out to Taylor Swift’s entire discography with your all your BFFs.
When it comes to Hai Street Kitchen, we gotta admit: we’re a little biased. This sushi place is definitely the most fun on our list. Hai Street Kitchen is the answer to all your, I love sushi, but it’s not very filling, prayers. Located in beautiful Rittenhouse Square, this tiny restaurant would be easy to miss if it weren’t for the constant buzz of people in line. But the wait is certainly worth it. Here you’ll find the most glorious creation known to man: the sushi burrito. Hai Street Kitchen has premade options to choose from. Or, if you’re feeling creative, try making your own glorious sushi burrito creation. The shrimp tempura is definitely our favorite.
Zama is one of Philadelphia’s more fancy sushi spots—the perfect place for date night or a business lunch. The atmosphere is glowing with sleek, upscale charm. Have a glass or two of Sake over one of their delicious and hand-crafted sushi rolls. With both indoor and outdoor seating, Zama is committed to keeping their costumers safe. Not feeling sushi? We get it, not everyone has the pallet for raw fish. We’ve got you covered. If classic sushi and sashimi are not your thing, Zama has some killer veggie and tempura rolls.
