One of the best walks in Austin is easily accessible. Parallel to the Lamar Blvd bridge is the Pfluger Pedestrian Bridge. Many make their commutes over this bridge on bikes, by foot, scooters, or other forms of wheels! Passing through our city’s skyscrapers and downtown neighborhoods is the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail. Its 10-mile stretch is a scenic pathway offering outdoor recreation for residents and visitors alike! Named after the former Austin mayor and his wife, the Ann and Roy Butler Trail is one of our favorite walks in Austin.

St. Edwards Park + Greenbelt
Another one of our favorite walks in Austin is this combo walk to the gorgeous greenbelt. The St. Edwards Park Greenbelt offers plenty of area for hiking, mountain biking, swimming, and plenty of play areas for your dogs! Don’t forget your sunscreen and plenty of water as Austin warms up!

Mayfield Nature Preserve
This beautiful park is often the site of weddings, photoshoots, retreats and other gorgeous outdoor celebrations. The Mayfield Nature Preserve is a historic park that showcases a modest cottage with two acres of colorful fields, palm trees, roaming peacocks, and a gorgeous water feature. In full, Mayfield Nature Preserve is a 21-acre natural habitat to all of nature’s treasures.

Walnut Creek Trail
Enjoy 7.3 miles of multipurpose trails in this East Austin neighborhood. The Walnut Creek Trail is a beautiful stretch of trail through the Walnut Creek woods that also features a 10-foot-wide concrete sidewalk path that accommodates various ways of traversing the trail. This trail connects various neighborhoods like Govalle Park, David White Park, and Walnut Creek.

Walk at Mueller Lake Park
This large park features 140 acres of open park area and trails for all to enjoy. One of our favorite walks in Austin is Mueller Lake Park. Additionally, there is a 5-mile stretch of a hike and bike loop that connects various parks through the greenbelts. You can reach Bartholomew Park, Patterson Park, and the Morris Williams Golf Course.

Pease District Park
One of the most tranquil walks in Austin is Pease District Park. This urban park is centrally located and easily accessible from various Austin neighborhoods. Explore miles of trails or get your game on with volleyball or basketball courts. There are even playgrounds and a splash pad for kids to enjoy. Pease Park is also known for art installations intertwined with the park, like the infamous Treehouse.
