One of our favorite parts of living in Tampa Bay is the year-round beach weather! And what’s better than spending the day at a beach bar with a cocktail in your hand, soaking up the sun? The answer is: not much.
We put together this list of our favorite beach bars and restaurants in Tampa Bay, so the next time you’re in the mood to get some Vitamin D, you know the best places to go!
Caddy’s Treasure Island is one of our favorites because you get a beach, bar, and restaurant all in one. They have great drink specials and food, plus a second-story bar with rentable cabanas with beachside service! This is a spot you can never go wrong with.
Coconut Charlies, located at the Hilton Garden Inn St. Pete Beach, is THE place to go for happy hour! Not only do they have drink specials every day, but they also have live music. Check out their drink specials below so you can plan when to go!
Beach Bar Happy Hour: 11am-2pm M-F
Grill Happy Hour: 5-7pm M-F
Jimmy B’s is another awesome spot, located at the Beachcomber Resort Hotel in St. Pete. While you’re there, you have to try the pineapple chicken sandwich and the pina colada! They have live music 365 days a year, and you put your toes in the sand on the beach just a few steps away.
Postcard Inn, also known as “PCI” by us locals, is always a popular spot! While it can get a bit crowded, especially during Spring Break, you’ll find plenty of drinks and snacks. Head out to the beach for volleyball, and make sure to get a photo in the giant beach chair before you leave!
Pro-tip: Drinks cannot be taken on the beach here, but there’s plenty of room to hang around the two bars. See their website below for upcoming events!
The name describes exactly how it feels to hang out here! Located on the bayside, you’ll find the cutest waterfront bar with a ton of new hammocks to relax and unwind. Make sure to order our favorite menu item–the coconut shrimp with a Mai Tai on the side!
Tuesdays are dog friendly so bring your furry friend to tag along. While you’re there, you can even rent paddleboards and kayaks on site.
Over in Clearwater, the Sandbar at the Opal Sands Resort is a waterfront tiki bar and one of our favorite places to catch a sunset! They have live music, corn hole, and a fire pit. We love sipping on their Tiki cocktail (you can never go wrong with a classic rum runner) and nibbling on their smoked fish dip while enjoying the sunset.
Paradise Grille has two great locations, one in Pass-A-Grille and one in Upham Beach. They are completely outside, so you can just walk up in your bathing suit!
We love grabbing a Piña Colada and sitting at one of the tables that are just 10-15 ft from the water–depending on the tide, of course! They serve food from breakfast to dinner, and don’t forget to check out the website to see when the next live band is playing!
Jimmy’s on the Edge is one you can’t miss because it’s Clearwater Beach’s largest rooftop bar! With 2500 square feet of outdoor space, Jimmy’s is located on the 10th floor of the Edge hotel. Enjoy the sunset, and if you stay until 9:00pm, you get a free shot of Fireball!
Bongos’ Beach Bar & Grille, located at the Bellwether Beach Resort, is a place where you can enjoy live music and tropical drinks. Play some cornhole or giant Jenga and enjoy one of the best sunset views on St. Pete Beach!
The Palm Pavilion on Clearwater Beach is a local favorite! Enjoy the pristine white sands and incredible sunset views while you’re there. This beach bar has live music almost every day and delicious seafood!
Pro tip: This spot doesn’t take reservations and is first-come-first-serve, so plan ahead!
Whiskey Joe’s is the closest “beach” to Tampa and is definitely worth checking out! You can enjoy a sit-down meal in the over-water restaurant and deck or sit down on the sand at the beach bar! You’ll find locals love to come here and tie up their boats to shore to hang out for the day.
Sandbar Bill’s is located on St. Pete Beach at the Bon-Aire Resort! They are famous for their burgers and rum runners, so be sure to try one while you’re there. After you eat, head down to the beach to enjoy the white sands and sunset!
Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill is the place locals can’t get enough of, and tourists come to visit. We can’t have a beach day without visiting this spot – plus it’s right on the beach, you can walk right up to it from the sand!
You can’t go wrong with sitting indoors to listen to live music or outdoors on their patio to catch a perfect sunset view. We recommend ordering their Frenchy’s Garlic Grab Fries to pair with your meal. You’ll be thinking about them even after you leave, trust us!
Whenever you’re planning a little getaway to Clearwater Beach, make sure you stop by Tate’s Island Grill at the Sandpearl Resort! If you’re looking for a place to enjoy pool side casual dining, you’ve found it here. While you’re there, catch a sports game or enjoy their live music. Staying until sunset is a must!
Mangos Restaurant and Tiki Bar is located at the Double Tree Beach Resort in North Redington Beach. This is a place you can’t leave without trying their famous Lump Crab Cakes!
Head over to the tiki hut for a tropical cocktail or beer while enjoying their nightly tradition of lighting the tiki torches.
Shephard’s is the perfect place to spend the day! Enjoy the live music, beautiful sunsets, and delicious cocktails. Step out onto the sand and enjoy the water just steps away. Check their events calendar on their website to see what they have going on before you go!
