📷 Eight Row Flint

When a restaurant’s slogan is #WhiskeyBeerTacos, you know you’re in for a great time! As their hashtag suggests, Eight Row Flint is a unique ice house concept that specializes in whiskey cocktails and bottle curation, high-quality local beer, and delicious tacos, and other Tex-Mex favorites. So, not only is this a great spot for day drinking in The Heights, but it’s also perfect for enjoying a delicious meal with friends.

There are DOZENS of cocktails to choose from, including seasonal, ranch waters, frozen, margaritas, or “fancy.” Our faves are the Pink Rattlesnake margarita, the Eight Row Mule, or the Frozen White Claw. These drinks pair really well with the beef barbacoa tacos, brussels sprouts tacos, or the shrimp tostada plate. With so many delish drinks and food options, you NEED to check this place out ASAP!

📷 Better Luck Tomorrow

This cool and casual local spot has become a Heights favorite over the years, and for good reason! The super-cute patio at Better Luck Tomorrow was basically made for day drinking, and the awesome food and drink menu will definitely keep you there for a while. We all love brunch here at UNATION, and Better Luck Tomorrow has a great one!

Their menu boasts griddled pancakes (served with streusel, pickled berries, and cream cheese), hangover hash browns (with beef gravy, pickles, shallots, and cheese), and a classic breakfast sandwich for the more traditional folks. Of course, they have mimosas by the glass or carafe, as well as other brunch cocktail favorites like Irish coffee and two varieties of Bloody Mary. If you’re not so into the brunch scene and you happen to be visiting BLT on a weekday, all drinks are HALF OFF before 5 PM. Score!

📷 Bungalow Heights

If you’re looking for a cute spot with good vibes and a nice patio for day drinking in The Heights, look no further than Bungalow Heights! This is a bar and restaurant conveniently located just across the street from Wicklow Heights and Cedar Creek Bar & Grill. It has a pretty large patio area (perfect for your furry friends!) and a very cozy interior.

But… let’s get on to the food and drinks! Bungalow Heights has dozens of beers on draft, as well as a sizable wine selection. Cocktail lovers, you really can’t go wrong with the frozen lemonades (made with Deep Eddy Lemon) or the It’s Fall Y’all (Texas Ranger whiskey, pumpkin syrup, lemon juice, and mint). And naturally, their brunch menu is on point too! We recommend the Hangover Nachos, Boudin Breakfast Bowl, or the Fruity Pebbles Waffles. You’ll thank us later!

📷 Onion Creek Coffee House, Bar and Lounge

For that classic Texas backyard feel, check out Onion Creek! Inspired by the actual Onion Creek in Austin, this Heights restaurant boasts a woodsy, casual patio, a cozy dining room full of memorabilia and road signs, and a top-notch food & drink menu that just can’t be beaten. To top it all off, they are always hosting fun events, including live DJ sets during brunch hours and regular happy hours throughout the week.

If your plan is to grab some brunch and day drink while you’re at it, you’re in the right place. We definitely recommend trying the House Smoked Brisket Hash (served with potatoes, sweet and poblano peppers, two fried eggs over easy, creamy serrano, and two flour tortillas). How delicious does that sound? Their breakfast tacos are also an amazing option, as well as their leaner choices (who doesn’t love avocado toast?). But you’re here for the drinks, right? Well, Onion Creek offers champagne mimosa buckets for the table, classic mimosas with floaters, or even a frozen mimosa. Sign us up!

Patio bar fans, we’re not done yet! Bobcat Teddy’s Icehouse has one of the best patios on White Oak Drive, and you’re soon going to see why. This is a laid-back spot for enjoying a beer or a craft cocktail while you watch the big game or listen to a live band perform. There is always something fun going on here, from college football watch parties, to fight night viewings, to live music on Sundays.

Bobcat Teddy’s mission is to be the number one Irish whiskey bar in town, and we think they’ve succeeded! If there’s a type of Irish whiskey out there, they’ve got it, including Jameson on tap. But if you’re not super into whiskey, no worries! Local craft beers, hard seltzers, and all the classic cocktails (as well as some exclusive Bobcat originals) are waiting for you here. The other cool thing about Bobcat Teddy’s is that they host different food trucks daily, so you can grab some delicious burgers, tacos, or barbecue when you visit. If that’s not enough, they also have a unique and delicious brunch menu, as well as a great selection of brunch cocktails. Let’s dive right in!

For food, you’ll definitely want to go with the Madame, which is a twist on the classic Croque Madame, or the Morning Remix: Scrambled egg served with crème Fraiche, Parmigiano Reggiano, chive, crispy fingerlings, and a side of bacon. Yummm! While you dine, enjoy a brunch cocktail like the Sure Shot (Cocchi Rosa, sparkling rosè, grapefruit juice, and soda). For a more traditional choice, go for the Sherry Mary (a slight twist on the typical brunch staple) or a classic mimosa. Postino is sure to be a place you want to visit time and time again!
