Proud to be a Duval original, Dreamette has been serving up soft-serve ice cream since 1948! They offer chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla soft serve, which can also be paired together in swirls! If you order a cone, you can add additional tastiness by dipping your ice cream in one of the many flavors they offer, like butterscotch, orange, or even pina colada! They also offer shakes, sundaes, soda and slushie floats, and banana splits! The original is still on Post Street, but they have opened several other locations around Jacksonville, so be sure to check them out!  If you plan to visit, make sure to bring cash because most of their locations don’t accept cards!

Whit's Frozen Custard

The Whit’s in Atlantic Beach was actually the first to open outside of its home state – Ohio! Since then, five other locations have opened in Jacksonville; Jax Beach, Avondale, Mandarin, Orange Park, and South Jacksonville. What makes Whit’s so unique is that they only serve three flavors. Vanilla and chocolate are always on the menu, but they also have a signature flavor that changes weekly. They also offer an abundance of fresh toppings, like candies, fresh fruit, and nuts, that allows you to customize your custard to create your own unique flavor!

If you want a little more than just custard, banana splits, shakes and malts, and sundaes are also on the menu. Don’t forget to stop by with your dog on the way back from the beach, as they also have a frozen treat for our furry friends!

Mayday Ice Cream

Mayday was named to honor American Pilots that fought in World War II who would use the freezing temperatures they flew in to create ice cream and deliver it to other soldiers as a reminder of home. Their flavors commemorate these pilots by creating authentic and innovative ice cream using fresh and bold flavors such as Blueberry Toast Crunch, Ice Box Lemon, and Coffee and Donuts.

Be sure to keep an eye out for the seasonal flavors that rotate in and out! The menu also includes dairy-free and 21+ options, as some frozen treats may include a splash of an alcoholic beverage.

For those of you who like to keep ice cream classic, they also offer basic favorites like Session Chocolate, Triple Vanilla, and Straight Strawberry. Be sure to try their in-house waffle cones! You can add homemade sprinkles or a waffle cone wafer to your scoops for free or add other arrays of toppings for a small charge. There are several locations across Jacksonville, so be sure to check them out!
