Follow our guide to a day in Austin to treat yourself to a fun-filled and budget-friendly 24-hour staycation!
Start your day with some morning fuel and a good atmosphere! With such great weather here in Austin, we recommend you enjoy your breakfast outside and in the sun. Both Swedish Hill and Mozart’s Coffee have fantastic patios with great patios and tasty pastries and breakfast bites. Swedish Hill makes me feel like I’m at a European Café and Mozart’s gets some bonus points for lakefront view!
Austin offers a myriad of coffee roasters and cafés that can satiate your caffeine fix. Check out our blogs featuring our favorite coffee shops and best cheap eats around Austin to get the best of both worlds. You can be satiated with these helpful blogs for our Austin in under $100 guide.
We may be in the city but Austin is filled with opportunities to get outside in nature! Walk, run, hike or bike through spots all over town to get in some daily activity and vitamin D! Some of my personal favorites are the Hike & Bike Trail at Lady Bird Lake, Mount Bonnell, and of course, Zilker Park. With so much nature, it’s hard not to see Austin in a day for under $100!
Austin has a huge fitness community and so many different places to be a part of it! From barre, to cycling, to yoga, and more, there’s something for everyone. Get your mid-day sweat on with one of the many fitness studios downtown!
Now that you have worked yourself up quite an appetite, get back in the grove of the city with lunch on South Congress! There are so many places to choose from, but some of our favorites include Two Hands, June’s, and the classic Magnolia Café.
Save your $$$ and pass some time by walking from your lunch spot back to downtown for dinner. Window shop all the fun stores South Congress has to offer and then cross the bridge with the most stunning view of the skyline!
If you’re looking to save dough, these are some of our favorite resale shops in Austin. Save a little, shop a lot!
If you didn’t have too late of a lunch, pick a spot downtown for happy hour dinner and drinks! Any of the spots from our list below will make the perfect end to any evening! Happy hours are the best Austin things to do for under $100, that is if you can keep your bill under $100! 😉
One of our favorite views of the downtown skyline is poolside. Whether you’re visiting from out of town or an Austin local, the Westin Downtown offers a gorgeous lap pool with views of our iconic skyscrapers. You can grab a pool pass for less than $40 for the whole day at either the Westin or JW Marriott pools. Austin in a day for under $100… poolside is the answer.
Get a little history lesson in during your day touring Austin with a tour of the Capitol. The Austin Capitol offers beautiful grassy grounds to walk or scoot around and you can take in the grandeur of the Capitol architecture. Monday through Friday you can tour the interior between 9:30AM and 4:00PM with the last tour leaving at 3:30PM. On weekends time slots are more limited, though you can take a self-guided tour with brochures and their self-guide service.
Littered with creative spirit, Austin is home to beautiful works of public art. Take a stroll in your favorite neighborhood from South Congress to the East side for little hunt for some iconic Austin murals. If there’s one thing we celebrate besides being the live music capital, Austin is home to talented artists. Austin in a Day for Under 100 Dollars? Grab your best outfit and charge up your phone!
