Things to Do in Austin Weekend Guide

A Story By

I want to start by saying the safety of our community is the number one priority. As a community, we can still do things around Austin in a safe way, however, it takes the effort of everyone. If you plan to go out you are required to wear a mask so please just wear it. Let’s all continue to be as cautious as possible when out and about!

We are officially in the last half of 2020 and while there are a lot of questions about how the remainder of the year will look we will continue to keep you updated every week. As of now, there are still things to do in Austin this weekend, at a safe distance, of course!

Help raise awareness and funding for The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation during this virtual fishing tournament! Check out these great fishing spots in Austin to get outside and get involved:

  • Barkley Meadows Park Ponds
  • Brushy Creek Lake Park
  • Lady Bird Lake
  • Lake Austin
  • Lake Travis
  • McKinney Falls State Park
  • Red Bud Isle
  • Walter E. Long Lake

The six-month-long tournament utilizes a mobile app (iANGLER Tournament) to keep track of results. The tournament kicks off at 5AM on April 15th, 2020, and runs until 11AM September 30th, 2020.

Anglers will be able to submit photographs showing the measurements of their longest fish of each species throughout the tournament and the top three finishers in each species category will earn a cash prize.

Tournament Rules:

  • You may drop your line in from any location until the tournament ends promptly at 11AM on Saturday, September 30th, 2020.
  • You may fish from the shore, docks, seawalls, boats, bridges, rivers, streams, etc.
  • All catches must be uploaded to the iAngler app by 12:00 pm eastern on Wednesday, September 30th, 2020.
  • You can upload a maximum of 10 entries per species per day.
  • 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes awarded for each species based on length. Each angler limited to one prize per species (you may win for more than one species, but not multiple times for a single species).

Epic Fun has returned! As of July 1st, Epic Fun has re-opened its doors with the safety of its guests and employees as the top priority.

They are taking a number of precautions to ensure the safety of everyone who enters the building. When visiting you can expect to see sanitizing stations located throughout, limited capacity, signs observing social distancing guidelines, all staff members wearing masks, and attractions sanitized between uses. In addition, all guests over the age of 10 will be required to wear masks.

Now that you are aware of all of the safety precautions Epic Fun is taking let’s get to the fun stuff. The facility is filled with awesome attractions such as multiple climbing activities, a ropes course, tons of arcade games, mini-bowling (yep, mini), axe throwing, a jungle gym, and more!

In addition to all the epic activities they offer, they also have a delicious menu as well as beer and wine offerings for the adults! Let the kiddos get some extra steam out and enjoy some tasty treats for yourself. They even have wifi so you can get some work done while visiting!

A great way to keep your distance from others is to take a hike! We are all lucky enough to live in a city that has SO many options available within such a close distance. One of the many hiking trails around Austin is a great option to pass time!

Check out our blog for the best hiking in Austin!

REMINDER: Please respect others and keep your distance from people when out on these trails. Be sure to check the trail website before you go to ensure they are still open.

Enjoy an evening of wining and dining on Lake Austin!

The evening will be inspired by summer nights on Cape Cod and the Almalfi Coast (one of my all-time favorite places I have ever visited).

Enjoy food and wine tastings throughout the evening, at a safe distance. Both nights feature live entertainment!

🗓 JUL 8 & 9 | 7:30PM–10:30PM
