Hidden away in Florida’s wilderness, many of these Florida springs are a reasonable drive from the Tampa Bay area. Keep reading for a list of some of our favorite Florida’s natural springs near Tampa!

Three Sisters Springs

Three Sisters Springs are located on the Crystal River, in Citrus County, Florida.  This gorgeous natural inlet on the east side of Kings Bay is a destination for plenty of amazing kayaking and swimming. Named after the layout of the land, it contains three spring areas to explore!

Pro-Tip: They offer shuttle service, walk-in, and bicycle-in access to the springs area, but you can’t park at the springs – so plan ahead!

Crystal River

If you want to see manatees, then we have the perfect spot for you. Enjoy kayaking and canoeing in Crystal River where you can see treasured manatees, peaceful fishing and gorgeous lakes.

Surrounging the river is a special community of shops and restaurants – where you can sample the freshest seafood! After dinner, explore their famous trails for a bit of some hiking or a stroll with the family in the great outdoors.

Weeki Wachee Springs

Serving the Tampa Bay area since 1947, Weeki Wachee Springs State Park entertains locals and tourists with their mermaid culture!

Mermaids will swim in their crystal clear water for shows in the Mermaid Theater. If you’re looking for a more involved experience, the park offers kayaking to see the local wildlife and a fun river boat cruise!  

Pro-Tip: If you’re planning to go to Weeki Wachee, plan for an extra visit to Buccaneer Bay that has a whole water park, beach area, and the famous Weeki Wachee mermaids!

Rainbow Springs, formerly known as Blue Spring, is a first-magnitude artesian spring formation in Marion County, Florida. Rainbow Springs is the focal point of Rainbow Springs State Park.

Ornamental gardens, human-made waterfalls and sloping hills are visible reminders of the springs’ more recent past, when the land was home to a mining operation and a privately owned tourist attraction.

Take a walk through lush, mossy hammocks and then cool off in the springs — it’s a time-honored tradition.

Rock Springs

Rock Springs is perfect for those who love spending time outdoors, especially with a horse! Explore 17 miles of trails for hiking and camping. You can even rent your own horse so you can adventure with friends through the trails.

Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring

Devil’s Den is a famous spot here in Florida. What started as a hidden gem scuba site in 1993 has turned into a world famous travel destination!

Swim in their crystal clear water amongst ancient rock formations, stalactites, and a dreamy view of the sky.  You can go swimming here but if you’re looking for a more expert scenario, check out their scuba experiences as well!

Located in Apopka, Wekiwa Springs totally needs to be a part of any day trip! If you’re looking for outdoorsy activities outside of Tampa, you need to check out this spot. Enjoy this chill tropical oasis with tons of space to spread out in the water or relax in a hammock. 

Their crystal clear water is always the perfect temperature, making it a weekend hit with the locals! If you don’t want to hit the water, enjoy the views through their different hiking trails – with ranging lengths for any difficulty level.

King's Landing

Up for some kayaking? Spend a day at King’s Landing and rent a kayak or canoe for up to 4 hours! You can also bring your own vessel. The right side is known for its crystal clear emerald water and jungle-like surroundings. The left side is known more for discovering wildlife like alligators, turtles, and black bears.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to leave the doggos at home for this trip, no dogs are allowed. Be sure to make reservations for vessels in advance. From Tampa, King’s Landing is about an hour and a half away!
