For those who love to be spooked, this year boasts new creepy characters at the startling Scare Zones (ages 13+) with 20 more scared than ever before! These Scare Zones are clearly marked for those who don’t wish to enter – and Scaredy Cat necklaces are available to purchase for those who’d like protection from monsters! There are also seven different candy stations for trick-or-treating, plus impressive themed sections like Pumpkin Hollow, Witches of Trout River, and more! Enjoy frightfully fun entertainment, scary good music, and delicious treats at this year’s Spooktacular!

Haunted Trail and Cornmaze at Connor's

For kiddos who love a good scare, this event is for you! Travel to Hilliard, Florida, for the ultimate haunted corn maze! Connor’s A-Maize-ing Acres is hosting a bone-chilling, spine-tinging haunted trail that is NOT for the faint of heart. Did we mention you will be in complete darkness, as no flashlights are allowed? Enter if you dare, and experience horrifying sights, frightening sounds, and terrifying monsters as you venture through the cornfield! This is one of the spookiest Halloween events in Jacksonville!

*Not recommended for children under 10. Children 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Trick or Treat Scavenger Hunt

Don’t worry! Connor’s is holding a Halloween event for little kids and scaredy cats, too! For those of you who heed the warnings and choose to steer clear of the haunted corn maze, there will also be a Trick or Treat scavenger hunt! Enjoy finding all the sweet treats and enjoying neat tricks spread all around the farm! Plus, all regular farm activities are included in your visit.

Nighttime Wagon Rides at Connor's

For a more peaceful family night out, Connor’s A-Maize-ing Acres offers a nighttime wagon ride and flashlight maze! Enjoy cool Fall Florida nights as the wagon rides through beautiful woods and pastures, and gaze up at the stars as they illuminate the night sky. If you’d like, test your skills and attempt to navigate the corn maze with only a flashlight!

El Modelo Block

One of few buildings surviving Jacksonville's Great Fire of 1901, El Modelo Block originally housed Gabriel Hidalgo Gato's cigar manufacturing company around 1887. After Gato's death, it became The Plaza Hotel and later various bars in what was considered a seedy, dangerous area where bar fights were common. The building is believed haunted by a Spanish-American War veteran who was fatally shot in the chest immediately upon entering in 1907. Whether he seeks revenge for his murder or simply waits for that drink he never received, locals believe his restless spirit continues to linger within the historic brick structure, adding supernatural dread to its already notorious reputation.

Evergreen Cemetery

As Jacksonville's oldest fully operating cemetery with burials dating back to 1881, Evergreen Cemetery spans 170 acres containing over 70,000 graves, including city founder Isaiah D. Hart's final resting place. When it opened, remains from other cemeteries were relocated here, disturbing many existing graves. Three primary spirits reportedly haunt the grounds: the Lady in Violet appears at the eastern entrance wearing Victorian mourning dress, and legend claims anyone who sees her will experience a family death soon after. A man in period clothing haunts the restored Dodd Family mausoleum area, while a woman's ghost appears near the "Ugly Angel" tombstone in the cemetery's western section.

The Florida Theatre

Void Magazine ranked the Florida Theatre among "the Top Seven Most Haunted Places in Northeast Florida" due to its rich supernatural history. Built on land previously occupied by early European settlers, indigenous Timucua and Mocama peoples, and a city jail, the location offers numerous opportunities for paranormal activity. The projection booth experiences frequent unexplained phenomena including doors slamming shut, malfunctioning lights and equipment, mysterious voices, and full-body apparitions. Psychic Jill Cook-Richards claims communication with a ghost named "J" for Joy. Most famous is Section 500, Row E, Seat 2, where paranormal investigators captured clear video of a ghostly man in 2010. The theatre preserved this "Ghost Seat" during renovations.

Riverside House

Originally constructed in the 1860s as Rochester House resort hotel, this building was relocated by barge upriver to its current location in 1911, potentially disturbing spiritual energies. The structure's most notable guest was Mary Todd Lincoln, who visited Jacksonville in 1874 while grieving the deaths of her three sons and husband Abraham Lincoln. During and after her stay, Mary's mental health severely deteriorated - she claimed poisoning attempts, nearly jumped from a window to escape imaginary fires, and was eventually institutionalized in Illinois. Many attribute her psychological decline to the house's supernatural influence. Today, visitors report seeing a woman in black dress, believed to be a Confederate blockade runner's bride, with footsteps heard from the third floor.

The San Marco Theatre

This iconic art-deco theatre, known for its vibrant colors and distinctive architectural style, harbors chilling supernatural secrets unfamiliar to most locals. The building is haunted by a former manager who died within the theatre's offices and continues to make his presence known. Former employees have witnessed a ghostly figure standing in the manager's office, ominously looking down at them during their work shifts. After the theatre permanently closed its doors in 2022, the building is set to become the new Electric Dough Pizza location. As the space undergoes transformation from entertainment venue to restaurant, speculation grows about how the restless spirit will adapt to sharing the premises with pizza ovens and dining patrons rather than moviegoers.

Public School Number 4

Situated beneath the I-95 overpass, this deteriorating structure known as Annie Lytle Elementary presents a haunting sight with its crumbling brick walls, boarded windows, and once-impressive white columns now in decay. The building has spawned numerous terrifying urban legends including tales of a cannibalistic principal storing misbehaving students on meat hooks, a murderous janitor boiling children alive in the basement, killer teachers, fatal furnace explosions, disappearing students, and satanic rituals. While these stories are likely exaggerated schoolyard folklore, the building earned the ominous nickname "Devil's School." Visitors report witnessing strange shadows and hearing disembodied voices. Despite its appeal to ghost hunters, the building remains dangerous and legally off-limits, surrounded by protective chainlink fencing.
